Heading into Winter after a beautiful Fall. The leaves were so vibrant this year but Winter is just around the corner. There's actually a lot to do in the Pacific Northwest in the wintertime. I have a few popular activities for you to consider.

Skiing and Snowboarding: Crystal Mountain, Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie and Mount Baker are great for downhill skiing and snowboarding. Of course they have a range of skill levels, important for beginners like myself!

Snowshoeing: Mount Rainier, Snoqulamie and Leavenworth have snowshoeing options on beautiful scenic trails.

Winter Hiking: Bundle up and embark on winter hikes in any of the snowcovered trails in the Cascades or Olympics. Check out these popular spots too. Heybrook Lookout, Franklin Falls, Barclay Lake, Sol Duc Falls, Hoh River Trail.

Winter Festivals: Many options for winter festivals in WA. Leavenworth is one of the most popular. Pathway of Lights on Greenlake, Holiday on the Bay in Everett, Evergreen Christmas Light Show in Bothell. Many more and tree-lighting events all around.

Winter Wildlife Viewing: Explore wildlife parks for birdwatching and spotting animals like Elk and Bald Eagles in places like the Nisqually WIldlife Refuge.

Cabins and Lodges: Take a look at Skykomish, Packwood, Winthrop, and Leavenworth for a weekend cabin escape! Thinking a lodge is  more your style? Try Suncadia or Sun Mountain Lodge.

Whatever you do or wherever you go be sure check weather conditions and trail and mountain reports.  Dress appropriately and have proper equipment for varying winter weather as well.

Have fun! Enjoy the fresh air and the winter beauty of our state!
